The Senate has a deal for us!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

“Have I got a deal for you!”

You can start paying for health insurance in 2010, but you can’t have it until 2014, or later.

They are taking away funding for the Medicare Advantage programs, but claim they are not taking benefits away from Medicare.

They are cutting the amount doctors get paid for Medicare patients, but claim to improve patient care.

Was there anyone there that is likely to be hiring soon or was it all political posturing?

The Manhattan Declaration

What will you do when the the government wants you to pay for something you believe is evil?

Is this health care reform?

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

So, according to the Democrats bill, it is “revenue neutral” because over 10 years in brings in enough money to cover the expenses.  Of course, to make it “revenue neutral”, we have to start medicare cuts and paying more taxes and fees in 2010, but no new benefits are paid until 2014.

That makes about as much sense as renting an apartment and paying the rent starting in 2010 and not moving in until 2014.  Who would do such a thing?

Of course, if this passes, there will be another crisis because we won’t have the option of prepaying for the second 10 years without major rate or tax increases.

What’s the rush?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

If the benefits for the new health care bill won’t take effect until after the next presidential election, why do they only give us 72 hours to review the bill before the vote?

What are they trying to hide?

Why is the pay czar not cutting Jeffrey R. Immelt’s salary?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Who is Jeffrey R. Immelt?

He is the head of GE (General Electric) which took TARP funds.  Why isn’t his salary being cut by the pay czar?

Could it be because GE owns NBC and MSNBC and they support all of President Obama’s policies?  That couldn’t be true, because that would be corruption and the Democrats campaigned on ending “the culture of corruption in Washington.”

The Dow closes above 10,000 today. Why?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed above 10,000 today.  Why?

Has the economy gotten better?

Are companies suddenly more productive?

Or could it be that the value of the dollar has gone down so much that prices have gone up?

Several countries have talked about moving away from the dollar as the world’s standard currency.  The only problem with countries doing that is those who want to move away from the dollar have lots of them.  So, how can they move away from the dollar as the standard without being left holding lots of dollars that have suddenly lost value?  Simple, spend those dollars before they lose their value.

How can you spend lots of dollars?  Invest in the stock market. Of course, that would drive the prices up, but at least they would have something of value (our companies).

I hope I am wrong.

Leadership and Congress and Health Insurance Reform

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

A real leader will not ask his people do do anything he wouldn’t do.

Rep. John Fleming has requested that Congress make any national health plan apply to members of Congress also.  For some strange reason, not many in Congress are willing to take him up on it.

I think everyone ought to tell their Representative that if a law isn’t good enough to apply to Congress,  then it isn’t good enough to apply to the rest of us.

Are We “Our Brother’s Keeper”?

Friday, August 21st, 2009

President Obama has been arguing for his heath care plans by saying that “We are our Brother’s Keeper!”

He is showing his lack of Bible knowledge (or a distorted knowledge of what the Bible teaches).   The question “Am I my brother’s keeper?” in Genesis 4:9 is the response Cain gave when “Then the LORD said to Cain, ‘Where is your brother Abel?’”

Cain was not asking if he was responsible for this brother’s welfare.  He was dodging the question about his whereabouts, because Cain had murdered and buried him. If God asks a question, it is not because He does not know the answer.  Verse 10 provides the answer: “The LORD said, ‘What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.’”

This passage only teaches that we are “our brother’s keeper”, if our evil actions put our brother in their current condition.

Saying Scripture says something it doesn’t, reminds me of Revelation 22:19

“And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.”
